I have had this device for almost 2 weeks now and have yet to be able to actually use it more than 15 minutes without it freezing up.I purchased an Asus Transformer in the past and was very pleased with it.When I ordered this one I was hopeful that it would be even better but it seems that with time did not come advancement.Upon receiving the device I upgraded to Windows 10 (which was identified as an upgrade in the product description).This may be where I went wrong but reverting back to 8.1 did not resolve any of the issues either.I have Windows 10 on my older Asus Transformer and have yet to have problems with it so I am not sure if that is where the problem lies.I have attempted support through the Asus website.This was absolutely no help as the only assistance they provided me was links to BIOS which appear to not be compatible with my device.Adding a 128gb SD Card to the device does absolutely nothing for the issue (actually makes it worse) and if the device doesn’t freeze up on its own, it then freezes as soon as I attempt to access the SD Card.I consider myself somewhat tech savvy but it may just be time to consider what return options are as I am running out of ideas to fix the problem.

After purchasing an ASUS Transformer Book Flip (TP500LA) a couple years ago, I didn’t hesitate in purchasing another ASUS Transformer. This is a great little tablet/laptop. I specifically wanted a tablet that ran Windows, as I needed it for work and wanted to have a seamless transition between my larger ASUS and this new smaller version, i.e. using Word, Excel, etc.
I would have given this 5 stars, but I do feel like there are a couple of things I would change for it to be perfect:
1) Increase drive storage space – when I upgraded to Windows 10, I had to utilize a micro SD card to have enough space to complete the upgrade, I had just received the tablet and didn’t have any documents/pics/apps/programs on the hard drive, but still not enough space w/o the external card.
2) I think the chrome finish edge is nice looking, but it easily gets dinged up and will show signs of (even gentle) wear quickly.
3) It would be great if the magnetic bluetooth keyboard had a wider range of motion when connected to the tablet. I would like the position of the tablet with the keyboard to open a bit more obtuse. Also, I have nearly dropped the tablet because I thought the magnetic connection between the keyboard and tablet was stronger than it was and I picked it up by the keyboard and the tablet disconnected and I managed to catch it (miraculously) with my free hand… thank God!

Overall I would definitely purchase this tablet/laptop again. It is a solid choice for a Windows/PC tablet!

I’ve had this device for about 3 weeks now so I think i’m finally ready to share my review of it. To me – so far at least – this is a 5 star device. It has met and exceeded all my expectations. The build quality is really superb. The tablet/screen portion is completely covered in metal giving it a really nice, premium feel (though the back does soak up fingerprints like a magnet). The screen is covered in Gorilla Concore glass, which after some research is apparently as strong as Gorilla Glass 3 but is optimized for larger screen devices. The Chi line of devices are some of the first products so incorporate Concore glass.

The keyboard portion has a metal top with a plastic bottom. I’m typing on it right now and I have no complains about it other than echoing what others have said about the keyboard going to sleep too quickly. I wish they released a driver update that would allow you to set the sleep time for the keyboard because it seems way too short (around 10 minutes). Then after it goes to sleep it takes about another 5 seconds to wake up before its ready to be used. Can be quite annoying, but I only rarely use the keyboard so I cant complain much. I appreciate that they include the keyboard for free and don’t try to gouge the customer out of another $50-$100 to buy it separately. The trackpad is decent and is compatible with a couple gestureslike 2-finger scrolling.

Enough about that though, the real star of the show is this incredible tablet. I bought this device to replace a 15.6in Laptop and a 2013 Nexus 7. The laptop was a little too big and heavy to want to lug around all over the place and it only had around a 3 hour battery life. The Nexus 7 was okay for reading but I HATED web browsing or doing anything else on its small 7in screen. Everything felt cramped and mobile apps were frustratingly limited compared to desktop apps that I normally use. After the experience with the Nexus 7 I knew I wanted 2 things in a new device – at least a Full HD screen, and full Windows so I could use all the desktop apps I’m accustom to. This device fulfilled those requirements spectacularly.

The screen is absolutely beautiful. I knew from experience with crappy 1366×768 displays that I had to have at least a Full HD screen on my next device. The 1920×1200 resolution makes everything look very crisp. Viewing angles are fantastic with no noticeable color shift when viewed from any angle. The screen gets pretty bright though it may not be very good in an outdoor setting. Indoors I usually turn it down to 25-50% and that feels very comfortable to me.

Now when it comes to performance you really cant expect much from this. Its a Bay-Trail Atom with a nominal frequency of 1.4ghz and a peak turbo of 2.4Ghz. It wouldn’t even launch Civ V but it might play simpler titles like Portal 1/2 or other source games. I’m sure it would have no problem playing LoL but I never gave that a try. This is mainly for reading and web browsing and for those tasks it performs just fine. It scored a 1.47 in Cinebench 11.5 MT, and .39 ST. Its fast enough for any web browsing and I haven’t run into memory issues even though this only comes equipped with 2GB.

Lets talk about windows for a moment. Straight out of the box, this device will prompt you to upgrade to Windows 10, but you will discover in the process of attempting to upgrade that you will not have enough storage space on the 32GB model. You have 2 choices at this point – insert a Micro SD card or delete some programs to clear up some space. I chose the latter. After uninstalling the free Microsoft Office preview and a couple of the more useless Metro apps I was able to install Windows 10 without a problem. After you install Windows 10 you’ll want to run a Disk Cleanup and click the "Clean up System Files" button near the bottom of the Window. Then you will want to click the checkbox next to "previous versions of Windows". This will erase you old Windows 8.1 install and you will be left with around ~17GB of free space on the 32GB model. Thats fine with me since I can always install a 32GB SD card for super cheap.

Windows 10 runs great on this, though it isn’t without its bugs. In tablet mode I’ve noticed that Chrome will frequently crash when attempting to full screen a video. That is really the only bug I’ve noticed. I would recommend you use Edge browser since it runs incredibly smoother on lower end systems like this device. Even with the bugs, I would still choose this every single time over an Android or iOS tablet. The flexibility of Windows just cannot be beat by a mobile OS.

Battery life is around 6-ish hours of web browsing and it takes quite a while to charge since it just charges through micro USB 2.0.

All in all I think this is an incredible device, and for under $300 it simply CANNOT be beat by anything else in its price range. For a 10in Android tablet with this sort of build quality and screen it would cost you around $400, and that wouldn’t include a keyboard or full Windows. This 2-in-1 is simply unbeatable. I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to put aside Windows’ quirks in exchange for the amazing flexibility of having a full OS to play around on.

I bouht 2 T100CHI in xmas 2015. After the first windows updates, I’m not able to use the tablet because Windows failed to finish updates. USB boot is block by Windows and when I’m trying to change options, I’m not able to reach advanced options without freezing. In working mode, the laptop was not able to reach over 8 hours on batteries. You have to charge boot screen and keyboard. There is 2 USB ports but Windows is not able to handle correctly. I work in IT and I know how to debug the tablet. I cannot imagine how bulls*** the tablet can be and non-savvy user.

UPDATE JULY 2016…. the laptop is DEAD. When it’s time to plug the USB in order to charge, nothing happen now. No more charging. So the laptop is good for garbage. 7 MONTHS OF LIGHT USE, it was for my daughter that use it only week-end or trip. Total crap.

This tablet was only used once or twice I bought it for my husband for Christmas and he never used it He passed away in February and now they tell me the mother board needs to be replaced, I am not very happy about this.
I think it should be replaced or my money refunded. This was obviously an item that was defective when I purchased it.
I have bought a number of items from Amazon.ca but would certainly reconsider that now.

Don’t fall for this misleading advertisement. "Free windows 10 upgrade" should appear nowhere in this listing. While it’s a well known fact that Windows 10 upgrades are free until this summer, you aren’t even able to update this tablet to Windows 10 because there is not enough space on the hard drive. It’s actually a joke. The reason that there isn’t enough space is because you are forced to accept the fact that there is 10GB of your hard drive held hostage by a recovery drive. Most recovery drives can be backed up and deleted to free up space. Not this one. This one is deeply hidden and is not even recognized by Windows as a windows partition. Thus, you can’t delete it unless you’re very intelligent with computers. That being said, if you are smart enough to figure out how to delete the partition and free up the space, you’re out of luck anyways. Why you ask? Because ASUS decided to be extra ridiculous about this already ridiculous partition and added the boot files to it. So if you have the ability to figure out how to delete the partition to free up some space… that’s great, but your computer will no longer boot up.

Very disappointed with this product. It has the potential to be amazing, but is severely limited by the fact that your "32 GB SSD" is actually only 18GB and half of that space is used by your core files already. I have a 64 gb micro-SD card, but this doesn’t correct the issue, because you need the space on your SSD for the windows update, you can’t do this with the micro-SD card.

All in all… this tablet would be amazing if it weren’t for these issues. I specifically wanted to get a tablet that would run Windows 10, and when I found this… I thought it was going to be a perfect solution for me. Unfortunately it’s turned into a 500 dollar piece of windows 8 crap.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT TO USE WINDOWS 10 OR ARE EXPECTING A 32 GB SSD.
